My buddy's 02 DubJay had the same thing happen to it. His was the actual door inside. HE had to replace the thing.

A signaling short, a signaling open or a power supply open could explain it. Do you have any information about the two wiring bundles with connectors between the radiator and the front of the engine? One bundle heads over to the AC compressor and probably controls the clutch. I'm still thinking the problem is in those wires but can't find any details about where the wires are going. If I had a pinout of the two connectors it would help a bunch!
