Default anyone have info on a GC novice addition

A friend has a Grand and its a novice addition with a d44 rear and lots of other realy nice stuff. whated to find any info on it I can if anyone has any or has links to any..thanks

I have never heard of a "Novice" edition.... Orvis perhaps?

Maybe thats it it did not sound right to me when he was on the phone. but I did not see it. he is looking for d44 rearend parts and noone can help as they tell him the grand came with an 8.25 and d35. I never heard of one with a d44.

D44a. It's an aluminum diff D44 used in some Grands with V8's.

The grands never used 8.25's unless I'm mistaken. If he's got the Orvis Edition with the V8 then he's most likely got the aluminum D44. The center housing is made out of aluminum and they're known to be weaker when it comes to wheeling. If he's just street driving it then he could just replace it with another D44.
