Bought a 96 limited, 231 conversion ???

Can I pull the quadra transfer case and swap in a 231 ? Will one out of a 4.0 Cherokee fit on the trans of the 5.2 ? What do I need to do for this, I am used to a regular Cherokee. I want better gas mileage out of the V8 and more acceleration. I have heard the stock transfer case burns out every now and then. Is it true the limiteds have a limited slip front Dana 30? I have a lot of questions on my new ride.

Great link but I dont want to take it apart. I would like to pop out the stock quadra drive one and put in a 231 instead so I have the option of 2wd.
