Default Conversion from electrical to mechanical

What' up? This is D Cherokee Chief from the sunny island of Trinidad & Tobago.

Looking for good advice, I would like to convert my 5.2 V8 in my Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited from electrical fuel injected to mechanical. Is there any one out there that have done this conversion before and if so please enlighten me on the whole process. Also what about the transmission being electronic?

You see in my part of the hemisphere, mechanics lead you to believe they know all about Electronic Fuel Injector but they don't, they use you as a guinea pig which can be very costly, hence the reason I am converting to mechanical (carburetor).
Please help!

Regards
D Cherokee Chief

I understand what you are trying to do. If the tranny is controlled by its own module like on the 4.0 engine, then yes you can probably do this. I say probably because this engine being a good old 318 cu in may not be quite the same as the early models. I would suggest you contact Edlebrock. I checked their catalogue for you and their street intake manifolds are not listed for the 92 and up magnum engine. If not, then you are probably out of luck on this unless you put an older 5.2 in instead.

A bit more info would help especially, what model year is the Jeep?

There are specialty manifolds made for the Magnum series engines, but they're all for fuel injection not carburetion.

To go with a carburetor might be pretty difficult and expensive:

You may need aftermarket heads (about $2000US plus shipping each or over $4000US) that will accept a carburetor manifold.

The intake, carburetor and air filter assembly will probably cost around $1000US plus shipping

A lower pressure fuel pump (carburetors can only handle 2- 9 psi) will be another $30-$50US plus shipping.
