Check your trackbar bushings and bolts first.
To check your steering components have someone sit in the driver seat and move the steering wheel back and forth in the "dead" or loose zone (the play area of moving the wheel before any actual steering input happens". Start at the steering shaft under the hood and feel with your hand to see if there is play in the steering shaft.
From there move under to the pitman arm tre and watch it, then work your way down watching each TRE to see if it allows movement.
After that check ball joints and unit bearings.
