I am new to Jeeps and just bought a 1998 Jeep cherokee 4x4 with the magnum v8 5.2 litre engine. I wanted to know how much difference is there between the 5.2 and the 5.9? Is my stock 5.2 engine strong enough for off roading?
And yes, the 5.2 is a plenty strong engine. Most of us do with a measly four liters o'fury

I have one other question.... When I drive my Jeep I hear a winding sound the faster I drive the faster the rythem of the sound. When I slow down the sound does to. When the Jeep is just parked and running the sound is gone. Im no mechanic but Im guessing 4 wheel drive? Or transmission? Is this something I should be worried about? Other then that the Jeep runs great!
I took it in today to be serviced. They said what I was hearing was normal for a 4 wheel drive vehicle. All my fluids were fine and they said everything looks good. I guess I just have to get use to some new things with 4x4's since it is my first one.
