how do you know?? haha and prerunner1982, if you aren't supposed to drive pavement in 4wd what am i supposed to do if i don't have the 2wd option??
I guess I should have been more specific... the NP231 (2wd and part time 4wd only) should not be driven on dry pavement in 4wd. The NP242 (full and part time 4wd) should only be driven on dry pavement in full time 4wd. It has a differential in the tcase that allows the tires to turn at different speeds where the part time 4wd does not.

Better?
so much better thank you. i learn really fast which is why i can usually pick up on how something works just by hearing (or seeing) people talk (type) about it in parts but for some reason the transfer case and VC i am having a hard time understanding completely. i should probably just suck it up and read something on it that explains it with pictures and everything haha
