Troublesome Transmission...?
Here's the story so far...
When accelerating (Mostly half throttle and above) the Jeep revs up to about 3000 - 3500 RPM then the trans won't shift and engine RPM won't climb any higher. Feel's like it's bogged down at that point. It'll sit at 50ish k/hr and just sound like it's "chugging" along at that engine speed regardless of how much more throttle is applied . The engine revs up through the entire RPM range nicely when in neutral, so it seems to me that it must be either transmission or computer related. Possibly something to do with the torque converter? A bad sensor? Clogged Valve body? The transmission fluid looks "fairly" clean, although it should be changed before too long, and it doesn't smell burnt or anything like that.
As I said, this happens while under load (ie. acceleration) and isn't really noticeable until over 30 or 40 k/hr. After that, it just feels like I'm driving with the brakes on. Lots of grunt from the engine, nothing happening at the wheels...
Any ideas?
