Default Dumb Question?

What is the source of the sound like a "jet turbine engine spooling down" that occurs, occasionally, during warmer weather when I shut the engine off. Lasts only for a few seconds. Not using AC.

Engine Fan?

AC compressor?

Jeep put a mechanical fan on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It takes HP to spin, so it has a "clutch" that lets the fan fully engage only when the engine is hot, but partially at lower temps. It does sound like a jet engine when spinning.

FWIW, That is a good sound and means your fan and can clutch are working normally.
