Default Parking Brake Help

Accidentally posted this in the Grand Cherokee forum so I think Iím in the right place now. New around these parts.

I just recently purchased my first XJ. 1998 Cherokee Sport. 4.0 I6. 4WD automatic. No lift (yet). 235/75/15 tires. Basically bone stock. I decided to completely redo my rear brakes. New drums, backing plates, wheel cylinders, shoes, hardware, and stainless steel brake lines. I have the axles out, and one backing plate and wheel cylinder reinstalled.

However, I am having trouble reinstalling the parking brake onto the spring. Photo below of the part I mean. This is my first time doing drums and probably should have had someone experienced in them help me... whoops. If anyone has any tips or tricks or special tools, any help is greatly appreciated.
