I going to 35's next too.

I'm running Mastercraft Courser MXT's 33's that seem to do ok.

I have been watching youtube vids alot lately and one of my favorite channels is Lite Brite. They practically live out of a 4 door Wrangler that they wheel everywhere. They are sold on Milestar Patagonia's and have wore out 2 sets. The 35's and 37's have more aggressive tread than their 40's. But the tires work great so those will probably be what I go with.

Found the idler pulley squeaking when cold.* Also has some.wobble to it.* Ordered a new one

Was getting a gas smell and found a very small leak at the fuel pressure regulator. pulled it out and the original 25 year old orings finally gave up the ghost.* Im guessing our recent spat of cold weather finally did them in. Found an oring in my parts pile to replace the outer o ring which stopped the leak but didnt have the inner oring so my fuel system wont hold pressure when the engine is off. Ordered a new Delphi branded unit*

Changed oil 300 miles early cause i had the time.* Rotella T4 10w30 and a mopar filter.*

A "What I did today and going to do tomorrow" post.
So it is that time of year again.
I loaded up the toys today to deliver to the toy drive tomorrow.
Been doing this every year for about 7 years now.
About a month after last years donation I found a good deal on more. 7 for about the $100 budget that we set.
So I grabbed them and they have been is stock since. LOL.

I am sad though.
Little back story.
I used to deliver for the local Napa. I still work there, part time (kinda retired), but don't deliver anymore.
So there is this church and they I had the signs out front and this is one of those places that you pass by about 15 times a day making deliveries.
This was about 7 years ago. So I guilted myself into making a donation. We had some of the Napa toy S10 pickups in the store so I grabbed 4 and dropped them off. Easy peasy.
Well the following year we did not have any in the store. So not wanting to bail on the toy drive cause things got difficult I figured I would go to Toys "R" Us and buy something.
Thing is I am old and have no idea what a kid would want. I figured Toys "R" Us would have so much stuff that it would make my head spin.
I kinda set some parameters. $100 budget and toys for a kid about 7 years old.
Figured did not want to go to young where all they really want to do is play with the box or to old that all they really want was electronics.
Also nothing with batteries and had to be a stand alone toy. Not a toy that you need accessories to play with.
All of sudden I realize that my store manager/friend has a kid that is about 7 years old.
I had an expert to consult on this. LOL.
So I ask to borrow him. I told him to check with his wife before he said yes. LOL.
So he said sure and I approached the kid explaining what I was trying to do. Told him I would buy him lunch for helping me.
So we go and there was not really as much of a choice as I thought there would be. So we settled on dump trucks.
Well since then it has been a thing. For the last few years I would just buy them online to get as much bang for the $100 budget as possible.
But he helps me drop them off and we still go out to lunch.
Now why I am sad.
A few months ago my friend's kid passed away in an ATV accident.
I want to say that he has been rolling with me on this for the last 6 years. Was about 7 when we started and thinking 13 when we did it last year.
Every year I would tell him that if he wanted to bail on this it was OK. He was getting older and what kid wants to hang out with their father's old *** friend. LOL.
But every year he helped me.
I am going to miss the rotten kid.

That is sad. Lots of accidents on those things. That is why I don't ride motorcycles or ATVs. I like that steel around me

Thanks guys.
I figure just cause I am going to be miserable on Christmas (LOL) why should some poor kid be.

One of the first years that we did this and were still going to Toys "R" Us all we could get was 4 trucks for $100.
Well I hand the kid the $100 bill and tell him he is in charge. So we strike up a conversation with the cashier.
He tells the cashier that these are for a toy drive. Well she gives us 15% off at the register.
So we load the trucks in the Jeep and I say to the kid well now we have about $15 that we didn't have before.
So we go back in and buy a kickball with the movie "Frozen" characters on it.
We drop off the toys and I say to the kid "We did a nice thing today. We made 5 kids happy".
He replies "We made 6 kids happy. 2 kids can play with the kickball".
I thought it was cute.

I hear Hallmark knocking to buy that story.
But seriously, got lots of feels going on there. Sad especially the kid died doing something fun. Toy drive took on a little more significance now for you too I guess.
My company sponsors a family in need for Christmas each year, raising a lot of money and goods and gifts for struggling families. To see the sheer joy and gratitude it brings out is amazing. Charity is important to humanity.

My kids are adults and I don't see grandkids in my near future. I support the local toys for tots, stuff a bus and various other local charities. It makes me feel good to be able help other people. We as humans should want to help others up as opposed to knocking them down. I respect those that help others. Which I find throughout the jeep community. Ok. Sermon over.

On the Jeep

Put a new spherical bearing and spring in the front drive shaft.

Put a new PL259 connector on my radio's coax

Installed caster adjustment shims on the lower control arms in an attempt to track down my front driveline vibes

I broke down the remaining axle shafts out of this D30 so I can start assembling the LSDs with the ring gears. (any tips on getting the red loctite on the bolts AND getting them torqued down to spec before they all dry would be most helpful!)

I'm still working on the rear diff's last thrust washer. I think I have everything I need to compress the clutch packs correctly, and she should get in there with a little bit of lube.

Red loctite scares me, it requires heat to remove once it sets. But it is not supposed to set until they are tight. Something to do with, in the absence of air.

In my case, red loctite would only assure that I F'd something up.

Red locktight doesn't always require heat. I use it all the time on anything that needs to stay tight. Usually just harder to brake free
