You can use one from a WJ Grand Cherokee, 160 amp. A little grinding is required on the bracket or you can get a 250 amp new from Amazon. I have the 250 amp and love it

Have a place in your area that rebuilds them?
I had one rebuilt and the amps upped in a factory one.
We have a guy in the area. Pretty much the go to guy for stuff like this.
Says he was able to make it produce just under 155 amps.
Not that you could tell from the picture. LOL.

[email protected] is the goto guy for cables. And yes, if you upgrade your alternator you should upgrade the wiring. The factory stuff isn't the greatest. I went with big cables cause I have a 12k winch and electric fans. My alt is only 136 and handles all my electric needs. But I will go bigger when this one craps out.

Probably. I think they are long enough. The heavy cable from the alternator to the PDB is about the same as a really light battery cable. You could use one of those bought at a parts store also

The XJ stock alternator is a small case Denso and limited on how much they can be upgraded. Maximum upgrade small case Denso is approx. 150 amps.

I upgraded a new OEM small case with a kit to approx. 150 amps by swapping in a new stator design and larger rectifier.

Now the large case Densos which don't fit the stock alternator bracket can be swapped in by grinding the block or installing another alternator bracket, which some of the HO (large case Denso) come with such as iirc e.g. Mean Green and a few others. Some use to come with a different alternator bracket there's no need to grind on the engine block, etc. to get a large case Denso to fit. However I'm uncertain if this is still true. i.e. which HOs come with a modified alt bracket.

There are new HO alternator designs such as from Mechman and others brands that manufacture large case Densos for the XJ that are rated over 300 amps.

for practicality you can get away using 136 to 170 amp large case stock Jeep and Dodge Densos, however some grinding of the engine block may be required.

Which pretty much is what I am guessing my guy did.
Curious to the "kit" you bought.

I got both the upgraded stator and the upgraded hd rectifier.

https://alternatorstarterrebuildkits...ator-upgrades/

You may or will need to e-mail them as the link for the Denso small case upgrade is broken.

Tell them which alternator you have, along with the OEM part number from the Mopar alternator and they should be able to fix you up with an upgrade kit.

The Heavy duty rectifier was an option when I ordered my OEM Denso small case upgrade it with new stator and rectifier. Basically it's an upgraded rectifier that uses larger diodes.
