I bought my XJ approximately 6 years ago. It was a highway driver in great shape. It was fully loaded power locks and windows (hate) and A/C (no more) and no cruise control (wtf?)
2000 Jeep Cherokee (Grey)
Had the typical lifter chatter. Disassembled engine to fix those and then it snowballed. New King Head, cylinders were perfect. New camshaft, lifters. Moved alternator to the top of engine with a GC bracket but had to make my own bracket(s) to make it fit to the engine. Now I can use a higher amp ZJ alternator. Lifter noise still present...wtf??? Tried lots of different oil and additives. Don't bother, the best results have been from non synthetic oil for high mileage engines..Still ticks a bit but goes away after a few minutes and purrs like a middle aged cat
