I bought my Grand Cherokee used about 5 years ago and it didn't come with any info about its aftermarket security system. This system causes a loud HONK when locking/unlocking, as well as when I open the door after turning off the ignition. I figured out years ago how to silence this, but I just had the battery replaced which reset everything and now Jeep is honking again. I cannot remember the details about how to disable this feature. There is a button near the blue security light in the vehicle that I had to press in a very simple sequence.... I do not know the manufacturer of the security system and I'm at a loss about how to get any details. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DISABLE THIS HONK FEATURE?!! Please help me regain my sanity!

you can try this

How do I turn off the horn when I lock my Jeep Grand Cherokee?

According to the shop manual, hold the lock button on the transmitter down for 5-10 seconds, then while still holding down the lock button press the unlock button & release the unlock button. This will disable the horn chirp.

Thank you for the instruction. I just did that, but the honk continues. I need to find out which aftermarket security system was installed because that is the culprit. There is no logo or name on the light or button. I'll try to upload a pic. When I silenced it a few years ago I had to push this button, for example, 3 times quickly, 5 times in a row. It was too simple to remember and I wish I had made a note of it.

I bought my Jeep in 2017

and couldn't figure it out for months. Then my brother bought a new Cherokee which had the same alarm system and a manual. That's the only way we were able to figure this out. He no longer has the Jeep or the manual..... that's my situation now.

that's not factory for sure. the best advice would be to pull down that cover the switch is screwed to, and follow that wire. it will be plugged into the main control box. if there isn't and obvious name, like "viper" upload a couple pics and we will figure it out.

Ok, I will do that in the next few days. Thank you so much for your attention. I look forward to not waking up my neighbors or startling people walking near my Jeep!

I found out that I have a Karr alarm system and the simple fix which will eliminate the lock/unlock beep is this:
Turn on Jeep.
Turn off Jeep.
Press the button on alarm 3 times 🤦‍♀️

Problem solved! Thank you for your quick response and willingness to help me solve this issue 🙂
