Well, it's finally here: Got to 359,000+ on the original 4.0 engine, but it's made some really bad noises and is parked for the present.

Any recommendations for
  • where to find the best remanufactured motor
  • qualified Jeep mechanic in the Seattle area to do the swap

Wow, and I thought mine at 265,000 was pushing it...

I’m at 260,000 and if seems like it will go a while longer if nothing crazy happens and is maintained.
If mine dies, it’s either a new long block from one of the reputable online sellers or I may have my buddy swap in a Toyota 1UZ-FE V8. They sound fantastic and it’s still a 4.0 liter. Lol

I am hoping hoping to use S&J remanufactured engine. My Xj is long over due and I'm having issues with my clutch and manual transmission. I'm hoping to do everything at once. We will see how our finances look before moving forward.
