2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Clunk

285 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  CheroCop
Looking for any guidance, my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee (260kms) has started making an intermittent "clunk"/ slip when gearing down for a stop. Usually occurs after it's warmed up, only occurs when brakes are applied and shifting down for a stop, feels like a slip. Mechanic ran a scan, no trouble codes showed. Thanks for any insight and suggestions you can share!

how many miles?
I would do a fluid and filter change on the tranny first. Chrysler (in their "infinite" wisdom) has labeled the ZF transmission fluid as being "lifetime". This is far from the truth as the actual ZF manufacturer recommends fluid and filter changes around the 50k mile range. Yes, the procedure for that vehicle is a PITA, however, it is cheap insurance. Dorman makes a pan/filter that has a replaceable filter element, not like the OEM where the entire assembly has to be replaced each time. Additionally, Valvoline Max Life has been given the green light to be used in the ZF tranny. This will cut costs considerably.
