I found an article on the web about a guy who used some new parts and some used parts and lifted his Cherokee about 4" and did it for about $200. I work at CarQuest and I get my parts for about 1/2 price...so, I get to thinkin', maybe I could do it for about $100 bucks!!! Seems too good to be true! And you know the old saying.... So heres what I'm asking, could someone who knows a whoooole lot more about lift kits take a look at the site and give me their opinion, hints, suggestions, warnings, ect. Just some 411, I am NOT trying to build a hard core wheeler, just a little more ground clearence for goin' out fly fishing, tire clearance, looks, ect. This is my "get to work every day" truck, but I still want it to be more. Thanks for any help. The site I found is http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Suspension_Steering_Axles_and_Brakes/Budget_Lift.htm

Thanks for any help!!!!

I don't see why it wouldn't work but don't use the F-150 springs Go with the V-8 Grands and spacers as Kyle said

I'm old. I grew up driving cars that would scare people these days so what I see as a comfortable ride may have you reaching for the Preparation H..

That's a good way to budget lift. Avoid the f-150's though.

actually the F150 springs ride better than you think
that site is where i got my lift idea from
but the shock will cost ya at least 100, if you did it how i did
Have you ridden in a XJ with the f150 springs?

There's always different opinions on what rides nice and doesn't. It may ride nice to one person, but to another it rides really rough. My friend's dodge ram has a 5.5" superlift. He says it rides really nice but i think otherwise cuz its very stiff and rattles all over the place. He rode in my OME lifted TJ and was in awe how nice it rode. Different tastes and experiences. I guess it's based on what you've driven previously and what you think is nice.

I think that is very well put, it all comes down to what an individual is accustomed to riding in and what he/she's opinion on what is a nice ride.

i live on a farm and im used to driving farm equipment and trucks so yea, and also the dakota springs do give alot of flex, as in i had over a foot of clearance between the fender flair and top of the tire at full flex, stock size tires tho

great site. my 91 is getting a lift with 2" spacers and 1" over coils out of the Mj. the back is already lifted a bit with spring pack and I am goibg to put the mj shackels on it they are 1 3/4" longer then the xj. I had a skyjacker lift on a 91. I have done the ford thing. I do not know how this lift is going to ride but the SJ was great.
