My son has a '94 ZJ with the 42RE tranny and it kinda lurches and slips a little when shifting from 1-2 and 2-1.

I read somewhere about a cable or something that may be out of adjustment or something. Anybody here know about it? Be darned if I can find the original article. I am trying to avoid a tranny swap if possible.

Also, is the rear main seal changeable through the oil pan like other 4.0L engines or does the tranny need to be dropped to do it?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Edit: Whoops ... Mods feel free to move if this is in the wrong forum

Yeah, that's the one. Is it obvious when you have a look which the TV cable is? I have not even crawled under it yet, and I know squat about that tranny. Any tips on how to adjust it? Just gathering pre-gong information :)

Edit: Just found this interesting writeup ...

That should give me enough info to at least know what I'm looking for. Thanks for jogging my memory :D
