Mine has that stuff but it still got the CEL for the misfire. Looks like they just threw it on there and called it a day. I'm thinking I can wrap the fuel rail and maybe that will work. Wrapping each injector may be more of a PITA. Thanks for the help and thanks for the injectors Programbo! The smoothed her out a bit more.

I spend a lot of time in junkyards and I have come across a number of the 99+ XJs with a layer of this stuff either between the exhaust and intake manifolds or covering the intake manifold but below the fuel rail/injectors.

I've also heard of people wrapping the exhaust manifold or injectors in insulation

The only adapters I have convert the 784s to run in an older XJ. But they don't work well on the 96-98s because they had those extra big, fat electrical plugs

OK. If you've got a '90 but have a set of the new EV-6 injectors (784's). Then the adapters I have would help you.
