I replaced my ignition switch today and brights stay on and cant flip the switch to turn them off and on like usual. did i put switch in wrong or do i need to take the tumbler out or what?

Well the ignition switch has nothing to do with the headlights so I would say hit a boneyard and replace the switch. Your headlights will turn on and off without the key ever in the ignition.

On the my 89 and 93 the dimmer switch is attached to the the steering column with the same two bolts as the starter switch and is activated by a rod running down the column from the dimmer lever. I had the same issue once and just had to loosen the bolts and slide the dimmer switch up on the column a bit so that the rod would fully depress the switch.

:agree:and if that doesn't work, you need to replace the dimmer switch in the column.
