Gemini!

She was born 5/96, I purchased her 5/13, my wife was born 5/67. Since they are all under the sign of Gemini, it was obvious.

Here are her stats:

1996 Cherokee classic. 86k Miles, I6 HO, AW4, Np242, D30/C8.25.

First change was tinting the windows.

Then the idiot lights had to go, here is the OEM dash with the mileage and the new one from the JY, Sad side note, The yard i picked up my goodies from closed about a month ago, :realmad:

and after the install

This also mandated the upgrading of the oil pressure and temp sensors.

My custom cupholder:

Custom windshield sticker: (stickylee.com) Mods can edit that out.

Rustoleum bedliner coated fuel tank:

JY hitch, also coated with Rustoleum Bedliner

My 4 dollar flea market fog lights:

custom hitch mounted 4" vice:

NOTE: The pics show carriage bolts holding down the vice, the first one i tightened down broke the mount, I then change to standard bolts.

And her giving a shot at FLEXING, WOOT WOOT:

I installed daystar front sway bar, and end link bushings. I also changed the front diff axle seals. The injectors were replaced with 703's but they leaked and i took them out and put the originals back in.

It started the dreaded "ticking" about 2 months after I got it. I pulled the valve cover, and checked for bad lifters. The rockers, lifters and rods all checked out, I had good oil pressure, but didn't like the noise. I pulled the distributor cap and found a wore out distributor, replaced it, the rotor, plugs and wires, and the tick was gone. she has been happy ever since.

I also coated the oil pan with Rustoleum bedliner, sorry no pics.

What do you guys think?? I'm not planning on turning her into an offroad beast, but would like about 3" of lift and at least some 31's.

Fine looking XJ. Kind of funny but I really like the early console, I could do without the cup holders but like the coin box (ashtray?) and area under the E-brake.

Thanks, I don't smoke, so its a coin box.

Kinda always have a drink in my hand so the cupholder was a necessity. Took me about 2 months to finally decide where to install it. Like i said earlier, the JY where i was getting parts closed, or i would have looked for a donor from a newer model.

My problem is my coffee cup is bigger than any cup holder. lol
Sucks they closed. I miss the JY's of back home (CO), there were many U-Pick U-Pull yards to chose from. One one where I live here and they won't even take me to look at stuff. Keep your eyes on CL, I see them pop up from time to time.

Oh ya, you forgot to mention the Deer whistles, a must have UP here. :D

Time for an update:

Flushed coolant when I replaced the radiator and water pump.

Painted the trans pan when I changed the fluid and filter and replaced the cooler lines.

Got some new wheels:

But my wheel studs are too short :(

Replaced the crank sensor and front o2 sensor.

Painted my flares black:

Grass is always greener or in this case, whiter. You just painted your flares black, I've been thinking about painting my black ones white. Also gotta say I like the 5 spoke wheels.

The 5 spokes were on it when I bought it. I like them too, but the web's are 16" which I need for the other tires. The white is nice, but just seemed so bland, I like the black now that it's on.

I'm trying so hard to like those rims on your XJ but I just can't get there.

I think showing up to a jeep rally with those rims would be like a drag queen walking into a biker bar.

Well, update time.

Installed a replacement front axle Thursday, also replaced the front diff bearings, the ones from the JY were spun on the carrier. installed new axle seals too. Not to bad of a job.

Wow, that old axle was pretty much toast, eh? I rather like the look of the rims, even more when you get the lift.

Thanks. I want about a 3" lift, I have been torn between a JY budget lift, or a complete retail one. I am leaning toward a retail lift that includes all new springs since my rears are sagging.

I found this on craigslist; 2" AAL and coils.

I need lift with my new tires, especially since my rears leafs are sagging. I am planning on removing my rear sway bar. Can I use my brackets and make BPE's and use my stock shocks on the rear? Also, If i put the 2" coils up front, how would i measure for the proper shock for the front? Thanks appreciate all the help.

The sway brackets work OK but they will bind a touch as the are oriented wrong. I believe you will need to buy sleeves for the factory style shocks though, I know I have seen them at NAPA and the hardware store will have some too. I am thinking the YJ front shocks are about 2" longer...Just looked it up and they just shy of 2" longer so they should work just dandy. :)
