I dunno about you guys but i'm sick of hearing about cheaters in MLB. Why do they have to be obsessed with every player that cheats? simple FIRE them and erase their stats. You don't have to interview them and watch them lie some more and then play that interview over and over on every news channel all day long.

Personally who cares if their taking steroids? It's their bodies, let them destroy themselves. Bigger question is, why does the Government think it needs to investigate? Surley they have bigger problems to worry about.

A quote from my favorite band... "There's no bread, let'em eat cake, there's no end to what they'll take... Is a "modern day" Bastille Day coming?

Sorry off subject, back to your regular scheduled programming.

I don't think that the government needs to be involved in professional sports - at all.

On that note, I do think that steroid use should not be allowed in any sports. It makes all the records set by their professional predecessors worthless because those guys did it naturally. I also find it to be dishonorable in breaking a record by "taking the easy way out."

Really random though, I think that the fact that some of these guys, when asked if they knew they were taking this crap say "Oh, I didn't know I was taking illegal substances." I call BS on that because realistically speaking, these guys are on certain diets and they know exactly what they are and are not ingesting.

Yeah i knew A-fraid was lying when he said he wasn't sure what he was taking. You'd see his face red as an apple if he didn't have all that tv makeup on. Heck you could see some of the lying redness showing.

I guess I look at it from another angle. Modern records are useless compared to "older" ones. For instance, even though several have hit MORE home runs than Babe Ruth, HE did it in far fewer games. So comparing records is pointless.

IMO it is just a sport. In the real scheme of things it is just a silly stupid game. FAR too much is put into these stupid games. It just takes one look at the moronic people in the stands. It becomes their way of life:bow:, they get into fights about it.

I go back to my quote from Karl Marx I guess....

:agree: They should be worrying about more important issues...I believe there are one or tow other items on the Governments plate at the moment...

Steroids or not, records are not really comparable...Equipment is improved, training is improved, rules have changed...For example, Most MLB players don't eat tons of red meat, smoke and drink the way Babe Ruth did. Pitchers tend to throw the ball a little faster then they did years ago, and pitchers don't pitch entire games the way they used to, so....steroids aside, there are many things which effect the comparability of records...

Probably true, but then again, how many would have a lifetime career of burger flippin' if the baseball didn't work out? Some just do what they are told without wondering or questioning why...

And last but not least...if the majority of players are using, then it's no longer an advantage, it's still a level playing field...

Regarding the records and their inability to be compared, you all raise very valid arguments that I didn't take into account when I considered and made my statement.

I personally don't follow many sports. It's not really my thing. I'll catch parts of games here and there if nothing else is on TV. I think it's all a bunch of BS to be honest. So many people actually work for their money, and these guys play and then have the gall to whine that they're not getting enough money or that they don't have the right type of water in their bottles during the game/practice when they're getting paid millions of dollars.

I think it's an absolute waste of money in general.

Yes.. comparing records are pointless... Babe Ruth never faced any specialist pitchers, double switches were considered unsportsmanlike, Having to use the bullpen was considered a failure of the starter....

Baseball as a sport is one of the most intriguing with its complex set of rules. But as long as people like Steinbrenner and Boras have their hands on it, we will continue to have things like this occuring.

I stopped watching professional sports years ago. It's meaningless. No one plays for city they represent. They could be traded and playing for another team next year. You're really rooting for the uniforms.

At least in college sports the player actually attends that school.

I think professional athletes that play for baseball, or football, should have had to be a resident of that city for 10 years. No trading. Now you got an interesting game.

I don't like baseball, and I'm sick of hearing the players "apologize". They're only sorry they got caught. But really, I don't care. Steroids or no steroids, baseball is boring.

I love watching baseball, but I too am sick of this whole steroids thing. I agree Muddeprived, just kick them out and erase their stats. And why aren't there more strict drug testing rules? One might argue that the current rules are strict enough, but if that were true, we wouldn't be having as many problems as we are with roided up players.

This is how I see pro sports anymore. Baseball players are a bunch of overpaid primadona's. The NFL is somewhat different to me. It is VERY physical, and they deserve to make more per year since they are beat half to death every season. But the NFL has it's problems too, in spades! The NHL....well.... "I went to a fight, and a hockey game broke out". Zzzzzz!

And my "favorite" sport, the NBA...the whole league is nothing but a bunch of overpaid punks and thugs with too much money. They wonder why no one is really that interested in the Pacers here in Indy anymore. We are sick of the getto mentality that is a large part of the NBA now.

The NBA is the WORST!!! Any game where the average score is over 100pts/team needs the rules changed to make it more interesting! It's back & forth almost as much as tennis!

As for baseball...I think it would be alot more interesting if they not only had to get to the base before they get tagged, but throw a linebacker in there to chase them down as they run to the bases and maybe you could get a little more effort outta some of these guys!

Football and Hockey are all I really watch. Baseball and Basketball are OK to play, but I can't watch them...Way too boring to me...

Either way...the Gov't needs to worry about real issues instead of what these goof-balls are up to...

I haven't watched basketball since MJ retired. It has totally changed and the game isn't what it used to be. The players care too much about how they look and how many points they score than actually winning.
