Hello from a 'Newbi', that just upgraded from a 1978 Toyota Chinook camper to a 2003 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo.(y):)

I do most of my own mechanic work and have done so for decades.

The mechanic work I can do is limited to a combination of the tools I have, can borrow, rent, or can afford to buy and includes my experience as a mobile, shade tree auto mechanic.

That being said, my experience with working on 4x4's has been pretty much everything from bumper to bumper on a 1985 Toyota 4 Runner with the five-speed manual transmission. I did the work for somebody else, it wasn't mine, but I have not worked on any jeeps or much else 4x4 other than 85 4 runner in 4x4 for that matter.

I have never really been involved with major fabricating of upgrades on anything without having an experienced person do at least the majority of, if not all "fabrications".

Anyway, I do have mechanical experience and knowledge that will help me save a lot of money on the GC in the long run.

Anyway, that's it.

Another newbi! Our 1990 Jeep Wagoneer Limited is named Smokey, and Smokey the Bear rides with us firmly buckled into the back seat, because he's just a bear. Car Motor vehicle Car seat cover Automotive design Mode of transport

He, like us, really likes Cherokee-bodied Jeeps, especially the ones with quad stacked headlights. He has always asked that other than some interior upgrades we keep the Jeep pretty much dead stock, and we do because we appreciate what some have rightfully called one of "The 20 best car designs of all time" (a quote attributed to Robert Cumberford, Automotive Design Editor and outspoken columnist for Automobile magazine).

If you see us around the Mid-Atlantic region you will know it is us, because to repair the rust we painted, well; you know who, on the gas tank flap! Tire Wheel Motor vehicle Vehicle Grille

Hello -
Picked up a 1993 XJ - 4.0L/5-speed manual in May with 290K miles on it. It had been sitting along side a neighborhood road for months and my son put a note on window asking if they wanted to sell. We bought it for $3,200 primarily for the 2.5" lift, new 31-inch Bridgestone ATs, rims, and full suspension upgrade underneath.

This was a summer project before my son heads to college in August. We grinded it down, put an acid etched primer on it and had it Raptor coated. We just returned from Southern Utah where it tackled Sand Hollow, the West Rim Trail, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, and more. This was a test of reliability of the XJ from Las Vegas to Hurricane, UT during summer, and off-roading in 95+ degree temps in sand. Never went above 200, and it climbed rock ledges/trails like a mountain goat.

Hello all. I recently became the brand new owner of a '98 cherokee after getting T-boned pulling out of my driveway and getting my daily driver totaled. I've always wanted one and I'm super happy to finally have one. I can't think of anything ridiculous, except I suppose getting T-boned coming out of your driveway is pretty ridiculous.
