I moved my 401K left from my previous job to Edward Jones several years ago. They seem Honest but obviously the investment have lost value in the current market. Schwab has a good reputation as well. I think E Trade requires a minimun number of trades per time period since they charge per trade. Probably not what You want for long term investing. Jones charges $40 per year plus a fee per trade. BTW, even though the market sucks right now it is a great time to invest in solid stocks if You have funds to do so.
It may be different because I'm in Canada, but I use Sun Life Financial and Invesco-Trimark for mutual finds. If you're looking more at self directed stock, then there's e-trade or...I'll have to get back to you cut I can't think of the name right now.
Good call though. Great time to get in the market if you're not already!!
