Mount a metal strap between the clips that hold the sun visors, and mount the CB bracket to that metal strap. Another way is to put a small piece of plywood between the roof and the headliner. Attach the CB mounting bracket through the headliner with screws into the plywood.

Mine is a little large for roof mounting, plus the face comes off so I did mine like this...

Thats what I thought about doing. only using metal. I dont think I could use a CB like yours cuz that looks like alot of buttons. I need something simple that works.

Well keep in mind that the plywood would be thicker than metal. You need a little width so the screw goes into the wood and not into the metal roof.

I guess you could drop the screws down, but it would be a bitch to tighten up.

Too many buttons!?!?!? Men like buttons and knobs and MORE POWER! Truth is I only use one button and two knobs 99% of the time.

If I do the metal ill use rivets to keep in place. Dont want anything big. Something small and simple. Just dont know which one to get.

Whatever kind you want works, something that has the features you want along with the price that you want to pay. There are all kinds.

I wanted a what came with my cobra and I couldnt be happier, its a great radio.

Looks like a fine basic setup. As for the Ant. it's not the watts that's a problem on that one but the physical size. You'll never make 50 watts out of a CB.
