I found a MJ in a guys field and now I got it in my head to chop the back off old blue. Then put the mj rear cab and tailgate on the xj. Something like this

My wife say's why don't you just buy a commanche, I told her what fun is that. So what do you think guy's and gals, Is it worth, or it just me being silly? I do have the urge to cut and I have already removed all the trim, carpet and seats to bedline the floor so now is the perfect time.

Dude, your XJ is becoming what I WANT mine to be someday. Damn you and your freedoms.

I think a 2-door XJ looks awesome chopped. Kinda like this one:

Definitely gonna need a roll cage once you eliminate that C pillar, but it'll look MEAN. I'd triangulate the roll cage where it's tied into the rear and mount the spare back there like the Baja trucks do. I'll even come help with the cutting/welding. :D :D

I say go for it. Tell your wife you have my blessing.

I'm 40 and your 20 something, you have lots of time to do it right. At least you can learn on mine before you chop yours up. This is one of the reasons I wanted a 2 dr. I was gonna wait till next winter to chop, but I don't think I can wait. I'm going to go today and see about purchasing the mj parts. I think I'm just gonna buy the whole thing and then use the front clip off it for the 96 I just bought. Then there will be 5.

You sir, have a disease. I love it! The first time we talked you said you didn't know a lot about XJs and you were still learning. Four months later you have a whole herd of them, two of them well modified, and one on its way to being a chopped up, bonafied battle wagon. You're my hero.

I hope it works out for you .
I did chop the back off a 88xj about 8 yeaars ago but a guy bought it before I had it done.
I now have a mj in the garage hafe a part and the xj still on the road. I am going to leave the 4 door part of the xj and just take the side quarters and the tailgate from the Mj and fab them on the xj. take the d44 and put that on the xj aswell.
Someone said about a full cage if you do cut your I strongly sujest the cage. the one I cut the short drive I did take with it sure made it bend and twist without that cage.
I also found a 91 one owner Mj that I hope will be in the driveway this weekend.
good luck with the prodject and if you do not mind I may just add my prject to this post as it will be intresting to see the respons and the info togeather.
I love it when guys can just chop and ride.

The link that was posted. ( I had to laugh) (Great minds do think I like) I never did have the hatch mounted before the jeep was sold but it only made sence to me to do it that way for head room in the back.

as for the guy that said about wanting to do this.
I to am 40 and I have one thing to say to ya.
get out their and start choping its never to early or to late.

good luck hope you find a MJ soon.

I still don;t have a Mj for the rear cab and tailgate. I thought about just cutting and using a steel hatch but I think I will just wait till I get a Mj. I don't like the rear being left open and the hatch just dosn't look right.
