I put my 93xj in 4H and 4L and noticed a loud clunking sound with every revalution of my front drive line. Only does this in four wheel drive. Not sure if it's the drive shaft as there about a quarter inch of play up and down on the u joint. Maybe under load the torque is causing the u joint to slip in and out of the sleeve causing the sound.
I replaced all the u joints in october. No problems til now.

If its the u joint then shouldnt it do the same in 2wd.
Any other Ideas what it could be?

Also the transfer case will grind a little putting it in 4L kinda have to jam it so it does not pop out. Then doesnt want to shift out of 4L and sometimes 4H.

Could also be the cardan joint in the front drive shaft.
