2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6, Mileage: 13k.

Noticed coolant (pink liquid) on the floor on the middle of engine. The coolant looks like is leaking from the water pump. Only have 13k strange to be the water pump. See picture.

I would assume that the factory warranty is still in effect. Wouldn't bother wasting my time and money. I'd take it back to the dealership and let them fix it. That is if it's still under warranty.....maybe give a quick look at fluid level and top it off before taking it to get repaired.

Did the warranty end up covering this?

Hello, yes, please let me know what you find out. I mistakenly set online fifth water pump. I’m actually on my fourth. Dealership replaced two Mopar water pump which both failed and then I replaced 2 gates water pumps that both failed. I’ve done a lot of research on this and at this point all I can determine is that it’s a poorly designed water pump and the seal is prone to failure. Chrysler won’t redesign because it’s cheaper for them just to slap a new water pump on the car than to redo the whole water pump. From your picture, I would guess yours has been weeping for a long time. And it is clearly leaking from the weep sump which is located at 6 o’clock position on the front of the water pump body. Basically means the seal has failed. That is where all of mine have failed at. I should be getting some more definitive information from the engineers a gates next week, and I can pass it along. Good luck. I’ll wait to hear from you. Steve.

Steve,
Thanks for the info. The dealer confirmed that it is leaking from the water pump and they are going to replace it with a Mopar part. I suspect that the current pump is original based on the vehicle history report but I’m not sure since I’ve only had the truck for 20k miles. Although based on my research, it seems like 55k miles would actually be pretty good for a WK2 water pump. I’ll be sure to check again before it goes out of warranty at 100k, if I keep it that long.

The last car I had that leaked coolant was a nearly 20 year old Ford, it cost a small fraction of what I paid for this truck. The paint on the hood wasn’t bubbling and the interior accessories worked flawlessly .

Love the ride but one has to wonder why these GCs have these problems into the 8th model year of the wk2?

Best,
