The last couple mouths I've been noticing every time I drive my XJ to work or trail riding, the eng. will miss and it will only do it once and that will be it. It doesn't matter how fast or how far you drive it, it will do it once.

Would like to see if this has happened to someone else or someone might know wear to look.

Thanks

It is a 89 and it isn't showing any codes. I changed the plugs, cap, rotor and fuel filter around march this year.
89's wont have any codes, it is pre OBDII era. Are you sure all wires are making solid contact with plugs, cap?

I checked all the wires and plugs and every thing looks good. I took the dis. cap off and cleaned it up and it missed once going to work and once coming home.
What is the difference between the aluminum dis.cap and a copper as far as performance goes

For what it is worth...check your crankshaft position sensor...sometimes the wiring harness will bump the exhaust down pipe or manifold, causing an intermittant miss. Just my .02

The copper give a better connection.I had this to happen to me and had to change to the copper connectors.

I checked the cps sensor and the ohm's test came out good on it but when I did the test where you check the senor while starting it, the instructions said anything under .5 the senor is bad and it was showing .3 to .4 .
