I want to flat tow my 99 XJ behind my Class C RV. Any recommendations for an affordable after market front bumper? Not looking for extras on the bumper, just a good sturdy steel bumper.
Thanks for your feedback.

The XJ front bumper is not solid enough to use for towing, nor is it anchored well. If you had the tow hook brackets you could build off that. Otherwise you will probably be putting out for a heavy steel bumper or winch bumper

I would think any good aftermarket bumper would work. JCR, Dirtbound, and others make bumper options. Someone earlier this spring was working on an XJ to do the same thing. I can't find the thread at the moment though.

Whatever aftermarket bumper you use make sure it has the extensions that go back on the unibody (similar to this picture). Cheap options are usually Chinese made stuff like smittybilt or some stuff on Amazon. Dirtbound and JCR are more on the high end quality products.

Just to clarify, that bolt in the rear is the one that the factory tow hooks use for their strength
