How hard is it to replace a front drivers side axle?

Yesterday I was putting the 4wd to work and got hung up and snapped it!

The hardest part is getting the unit bearing out.... After that it's a cake walk...

Looks simple enough...My question is once you pull the rotor and brakes and hub off and such is it just a matter of pulling the axles out that is after the nut is taken off or do ya need to open the diff and remove anything as well?

Front is a non c clip axle so you dont have to open up the diff, just get the hub bearings off and you are home free.

3 Bolts and the unit bearing (hub) is off. PB Blaster is your friend.

Use PB a couple days in advance and you shouldnt have much trouble.

For a regular job.. its easy... There is a write-up regarding this here....

But depending on where the OP's is broken at, he MAY have to open the diff....

Ah good to know...I do have a question about the axles and u-joints but I'll make a separate post on that..

You'll need a 36mm socket to get the hub nut off. You don't have to remove that nut to get the hub off the knuckle, but you do have to remove it to get the axle shaft out of the hub.

If you dont already have said 36mm socket you may aswell pick one up they are very useful to have around.
