And hallucinations!
Those of you who have spent time on other Jeep boards probably recognise the moniker, I've been using it everywhere I go. Makes it easier to keep track of who I am...
Anyhow - yes, I'm a Jeep fan in general, and an XJ fan in specific. I cut my teeth as a mechanic 'way back when working on Corvettes and Camaros (uncle's collection) in Indiana, grew from there into street/strip, bracket race, and pulling engines, and grew up into AMC engines. I'll still work on just about any truck, but I have a distinct preference for AMC-built Jeeps. (And there are those who call me a RENIX "guru." I don't claim the title for myself, I just happen to like working on the system more than I do OBD-I.)
I'm 5-90 on Pirate, 5-90 on CherokeeForum, 5-90 on JeepForum, and 5-90 on NAXJA (and a moderator there as well - and did a previous term on national BoD. Fun times...)
How much of a Jeep enthusiast am I? How does "working on my second tech book" sound? You can find information on both the one I'm printing and the one I'm writing now on my site - there's a link in my sig. As well as a few other things I'm trying to get going...
I can mostly be found (still) on NAXJA - I know it's started to pick up an "elitist" mentality there, but I'm trying to work against that, and I can't work against it if I'm not there. I don't think in terms of "haves" and "have nots" - not "member" vice "user" (although membership can and should have priviliges - I give some discounts to paid members, vice forum users, pending confirmation, but the only way that this attitude can be struck down is by example - and if there's no-one to set the example, it won't go on its own.
Anyhow, if you try to ask me something around here and I don't catch the thread for a couple of days, you can email me (5-90 AT naxja DOT org) and ask me directly, or just link to the thread you want me to look at - and I'll answer there. My main expertise is engines and powertrain, and I'll do what I can to help! Us Jeepers gotta stick together, y'know... (us automotive enthusiasts as well - the problems we face are similar, and the population segments are a lot more alike than we think!)
So, "Howdy!" from San Jose, CA!
