Got the bug and I'm getting back into jeeps again.
Been messing with an old vw bug.
Had CJ's and YJ's in the past.
I'm looking at getting a Cherokee soon, thinking something 1991 or newer.
Got any recommendations?
I've driven a few but never owned one, any better than another or things to avoid?

I like the square look, but need the a/c for the wee one to keep him cool.
Other than that a I6 and an autotrans and all is good. Auto in case the wifey has to drive it

I look forward to getting aquainted with my new ride and hope to see some of you on the trail.

BTW: I always go by BrockGrimes on these boards so some may have seen me from jeepaholics.

Well good. They only made 2+ million of them so you should be able to find one.

If you get a standard (which I wanted when I bought mine) you wife will either have to learn how to drive it or you won't have to adjust your seat and all the mirrors! Think about it. :D

When you do get one be sure and post some pictures. We love the pictures.

Welcome to the board.

Thanks, with the wee one on board the auto is manditory. If for some reason I get injured, say bit by the odd snake while taking a wizzer
The wife would need to drive, plus she offroads with me willingly so that's gota count for something.

Wow! That sounds like an interesting, yet horrifying, lead in to a "guess what happened to me one time?" story. :D

When we purchased our XJ about 10 years ago. Our "little" ones were about 3 and 5 years old.

I was teaching the 5 year old, now 15, how to drive the other day.

:hi: Welcome to CT from Oregon

I would have to suggest to get as new a Cherokee as possible, all the way up to 1999. I only say this because 2000 and 2001 Cherokee's only came with the Low Pinion front axle and this is the first year with no distributor. Also try to get the Chrysler 8.25" rear axle, it's much stronger than the Dana 35. It is identified by its "flat" bottom, whereas the Dana 35 has more of a rounded bottom. Ok I better stop before I get this thread stuck into the Modified section :p And again, Welcome.

Well it took me awhile to get back around to it but I have my first Cherokee a 1999 Sport 4x4. Only 150k miles, got a few bugs to work out like why the power locks wont lock the front driver and passenger but all the rest are fine. Also why it buzzes when I roll the driver window all the way up, power also.
