Ok this is a topic that don't come up very much, but something about.
Were you happier with your rig before your mods? If so why?

I was, when my rig was on 31's and a 2.25"BB I was way happier. It looked better, got better gas mileage and things were a challenge offroad rather than just a cake walk. The plan is to do a new ZJ build as soon as I can get another one, and use mine as parts. The next one will be 3.5"RE lift and 31's. For what I have to wheel and do wheel I'm way over built..

As a DD I liked mine better stock. It drove better and got better gas mileage. But I don't think I would change it back to stock, I've gone to far. The mileage thing I really can't do anything about (thats why I bought the beater). But the driving better part I just need to straighten out a few things (I need more money).

Well mine isn't a daily driver, so stock just didn't cut it. It was short, ugly, and too plain looking. 3.5'' of lift with minor fender trimming, no front fascia, and 31'' tires is the way the XJs should have came from the factory. I am still on 3.5'' of lift, but trimmed enough to clear my 35'' inch Boggers. But I'm not done yet. I guess its like a can of Pringles. Once you pop, you just can't stop.

I hated mine when it was stock. The springs were done for and too soft plus clunking here and there. It just looked too sissy for me. The biggest downside to the stock jeep was bending DOWN to get in, instead of the usual hopping up that i'm used to.

I definitely like mine better with the mods. Up here your junk would be so damaged in no time at all running a stock XJ on the local trails. Kiss your rockers and diff covers goodbye :brickwall:

Lots of steep, bolder-strewn trails, washouts, and creek beds ... can get a little nasty even on the "mild" trails.

So, for my habits a stock XJ just will not cut it. For stock I would go with a truck ... better clearance. But, that's friggen blasphemy and I am committed to the Jeep brand 100%

I have had mine at stock, 2" and now about 4" and I like the height it is now just wished I had some 31's on it.. I can say it rides rougher at 4" which sucks but I like the looks and the fact that when I am out hunting or trail riding I have clearance to pass water, logs and such.. I don't do much along the lines of aggressive offroading in deep water, mud or rocks just not my taste. I prefer trail riding and scenic stuff that's not overly aggressive..So mine fits my needs and eye just fine. Just need rims and tires and front tow hooks and I'll be right where I wanna be..

haha, that last part is so true. i look at old pics of my jeep stock and it looks like a low rider. i just need 33s and ill be very happy. right now im happy with it but the tires are to un-propotional. i miss the flex i had stock..barely flexes now but thats a good thing because i dont want to trim a whole lot when i get bigger tires.

Why doesn't it flex much now? You running 2" diameter sway bars?

Well looks like MY ZJ will be getting a re-work in the next few weeks... going to 31's, removing my BB so I'll be on 3.5" of lift and getting rid of the steel bumpers.. Going back to stokers to save weight. I might have to be driving this thing from MI to Missouri every few weeks...

I like mine alot better now than I did at first, with 3.5" of lift and 33" tires it seams to have just the right stance but still a lil low for some of the stuff I do, am in major need of rocker guards asap.
