My 91 XJ's brake pedal feels hard, like you are pushing on the ground. I changed the rear brakes, everything, and all the front was changed. I also blead everything.
I read some where to check the brake booster, now this is where I am feeling stupid...where is it at?? I know where it is normally, bolted to the master cylinder. On my XJ I dont see it there. It has abs And I traced lines , but I just don't know where it is.. So any help on both problems would be great.

Some older XJ's with ABS didn't have a brake booster per say...just an ABS pump and accumulator. You might have air in your accumulator. So I just re-read and saw yours was a 91. There won't be a booster. Make sure that you can hear the ABS pump prime when you first start it up.

He should have one  ... I've seen many '91's with boosters and my '92 has one. Since the OP has ABS the booster should look like this. It's on the right if you're standing facing the grill.

I could be wrong...maybe they changed it since '89? If there is a booster...check the vacuum check valve...plastic piece off vacuum line to booster.

I dont have the brake booster behind the master cylinder. I knew what the booster is, just not seeing it on mine when I was trying to see if it was bad had me woundering.
I will check the accumulator and that..

I just read that my Jeep has the Bendix ABS system

My friend had a xj that didn't have a booster at all. some weird system and his brakes were hard like yours. Never did fiquer it out, but he did a print out of the system and they showed about 10 places you had to bleed.

So then I was correct...you should not have a brake booster with a bendix system. With the jeep off (not running) pump the brake pedal like 50 times. Why...to relieve the pressure in the accumulator. Then start it up and see if that makes any differenct. Just a thought.
