Rad sould have nothing to do with heater core. Make sure your heater core aint stop up or it could be themostat is running to cool. My .02

The reason I changed the radiator was the closed loop blew the side out of it . I had the other radiator laying aroung and it was free didn't want to spend money on something that I could put the one that I had in that was FREE.:Last but not least... What do you mean by a open loop radiator? More importantly, why?
