Hello All…

I’m new to the Cherokee world but not to the Jeep world. I’ve had several Wranglers (TJ, YJ) and always wanted a old Cherokee to convert to an Overlander, and now that wish has been granted!

I’m building out my “old man” 1991 Larado into a more “fun” Overlander and plan on several cross county treks over the next few years. I intend to be a fun old man Overlander!

As purchased.

As of today, but more to do…

Still have body work to do, add a rack for my kayak, clean up the badly filmed windows, and build out the interior, but it’s all fun to do, so I’m enjoying the process. Hope to see you out on the back roads and trails!

Yes. I live completely off grid (4x4 needed to get home) in the greater Virginia City area…Sierras to the West, Great Basin to the North, East, and South. Perfect Jeep land!

I know Virginia City, I grew up at North Tahoe. When I was 15 1/2 I grabbed Mom to make driving legal and joined up with some local jeepers and went in a large group from Reno to Virginia City, then from there to Carson, no roads. Those poor old skinny tires had a hard time in the soft stuff

In another side note, I have been contemplating moving to the Carson City area

It’s a beautiful area…Lake Tahoe is only a short drive away with great skiing (water and snow), lots of Jeep trails, etc. The other direction is a jeepers paradise as well. Truckee River, Carson River, Lake Pyramid, etc. There are great entertainment opportunities at all the casinos and gambling and shows… No State income tax… What’s not to like?

Sadly Nevada is now being filled with people from other states that don’t seem to understand they’re bringing the same lame attitudes and politics to Nevada, that they think they’re moving away from in their prior states with their problems… Nevada is a welcoming state if you live like a Nevadan… Las Vegas (Clark County) and Reno (Washoe County) now have more “out-state” people with “out-state” attitudes and are bringing their baggage with them! If you come, be a Nevadan, not a transplanted “big nanny state” transplant. Sorry for the rant…I just hate to see this unique State turned into a California suburb with all of its lame policies.

Greetings. I have a 1994 Cherokee Sport. Absolutely love it. It is in need of some real work. I have 330,000 plus miles on it and it just keeps going. Best engine ever the 4.0L. Well, I am working on it to get it back to it's "handsome" state. Been thru a lot with it. Work vehicle, hauling stuff, moving, etc. And thru a bed bug infestation from stowaways from picking up my son. Not his fault. SF about 5 years ago. Anyway, I need to redo its headliner, and just clean it up. Eventually do engine rebuild.

Bed bugs! Yikes…how did you kill them? Bug bomb the Jeep while it was in a closed garage?

Bed bugs, figures the would come from the bay area. Welcome to the forum. Do you need advice on replacing your headliner? (P.S. I have to do that too)

I agree. Much better than the sagging material hitting you in the head
