Im looking to buy a jeep i found online. its a 96 normal 2wd with inline 6. it has 250,000 miles on it but i have heard the inline 6's can take it. i really just need a reliable car but i really like these little things. i found it for 1000 dollars and he said it has a few problems. he said he thinks it needs a new IACV. he said it wouldn't run well enough for him to move it. thats really all i know about it rn. i am going to ask more questions and such today. Any advice would be great!

If memory serves, the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) is a small electric motor which fastens to the throttle body, serving the purpose of opening and closing an air passage that's responsible for the engine's idle. That passage can get dirty. In theory, that part should last most of the vehicle's life. It's not the hardest or most expensive part to change, but I would question whether or not there's more wrong with it. Let us know what you find out.
