Max Mileage On Original Engine

What is the max amount of mileage on an original XJ engine, you have heard of? (mine is a 99)

What is the best oil grade for me to use.

there was a dude with 310,000 in another forum. i hear 200,000 quite often.

I have had another XJ with 280,000 on it when I replaced the motor. Used straight 30wt Castrol in that one but the one I have now only got 210,000 before the blowby was too severe. Put a remanufactured motor in and have been using Mobil 1 since the breakin was complete. Used the remainder of my Castrol on the breakin. My third XJ only had 85,000 on it when I sold it to a hunting buddy.

Hopefully I will get at least 200k out of mine, but I have seen 410k.

I have heard of upwards of 200k. Mine is a 99' also and I use Castrol GTX High mileage with an oversized oil filter. And mine just passed 123,000 and runs like a top. Doesn't even burn or leak any oil. Let me know if you want the part number for the oil filter, it's only like 7 bucks or so. :thumbsup:

Ok everybody, I dug up all the part numbers I have for a oversized oil filter. Just chose the brand you like.

Kinda hard to tell from the pictures, but the body is in pretty rough shape. He says he has a spare engine in his garage for when the one in there craps out on him

My uncles is a BONESTOCK all Original 92 Cherokee that has been very well maintained and last I knew (about a month ago) it was at 320,000+
