New Leafs.....

Ok, so I'll try to make this as short as possible without leaving too much out. When I went in search for an XJ, I finally found one that met all my wants. 99' Classic, HPD30 up front, 8.25 in rear, NP231....yada yada yada. Only thing is a "not so smart" guy 2 weeks before had put a RC 6.5" with 2" spacers and blocks on it (don't even get me started with that one :brickwall:) . Waaay too much lift when EVERYTHING else was stock. I forsaw all the inherant problems but for the asking price it was a good deal. So I ended up adopting it and started fixing all the shortcuts.

Now for my question. I am at the time for new leafs. I absolutely LOVE the ride height so going lower is not an option for me, so in the end I need 8" in the rear. I am currently looking at Rusty's 6.5" Leafs with shackles.....mabey revolver??? Anybody have experience with Rusty's? The qualitly? I'm also open to any suggestions of something better..... Just wanted to know everyones opinion.....sooooo.....Let me hear em'!!!! :pop:

Unless it is a trail only rig do not get revolver shackles..Rusty's leaf packs as far as I know are solid.

Yeah, I was kinda leaning away from revolvers, but I just thought i'd throw it in there anyway. Thanks
Go with RE packs (will sit higher then advertised) and some shackles.

I have no personal experience with Rusty's but I have read about 1/2 dozen posts saying NEVER NEVER buy Rusty's. So I will not. You are so right to get rid of those blocks though. I guess it has a SYE on it already?
I've been researching Rusty's suspension parts for the past week and 1/2 now. I read more threads on rusty's than another other brand. From what i gather, their coil springs are pretty decent, their leaf springs have a tendency to sag, but both coils and leafs give a good ride.

I just ordered some coils from them so i'll know what they are like once i get em today. Personally if i were going THAT high, i'd go with RE springs.

Another thing i've been reading in a number of forums are that skyjacker coils are the most preferred coil spring at 8". I know you aren't looking for coils but thought i'd throw that out there for anyone who's looking for 8" springs.

I thought RE only went to 5.5" packs. I would love RE but I didn't think they went high enough. I hope i'm wrong....

Yes, I installed the RE Hack-N-Tap SYE kit with a RE driveshaft.

Thanks! The front springs are next in order to get rid of the spacers. I'll take a look at Skyjacker

Thanks guys! :D:D:D
Well do a little reading, a RE 5.5 pack will usually net you at least 6.5", that with a shackle will get you where you need to be.
Sweet Thanks
Do some research, I have seen guys net a bit over 7" initially from there RE 5.5 packs
oops....i'm a bit slow, I just noticed I put this thread in the wrong spot.....sorry  :brickwall:
Its alright, well just leave it here for the time being.
I know a few people running Rusty's springs, they have had no issues with them. They also seem to ride higher then advertised. The big problem seems to be some of Rustys hard parts(Arms,Tracbars, Etc). Firehawk here is running mostly all Rustys stuff and had no issues. Skip the revolvers and get a set of Boomerangs, they flex well and ride nice.
My friend ran the Rusty's springs on his and they sagged bad in a years time
I have heard they tend to sag quite a bit also, that's why I was asking
They are a softer spring then that of RE so the likleyhood of them sagging will be more so then a RE spring for example.
so you will be getting rid of your 6.5" stuff? because i have a 4.5" rusty's with a 2 spacer and block. (lift shackle will hit exhaust) so i want some 6.5" springs, really want rusty's but could settle for rc. Let me know

Yeah, I'll be getting rid of the RC leafs but it might be a while. I have to save up some more $$$, I'll definatly let you know. One thing I want to add is that they are "settled" and may not give a full 6.5". But i'm not sure since I haven't done an exact measurement.
