2000 xj w 4.0 motor and auto trans. I have replaced every sensor and the motor and have never had a problem with gauges. I recently tackled the heater core evap core replacement and that's when issues started. Got heater and evaporator core reinstalled and now get crazy gauge activity. When I have key in starting position and cranking gauges are firing up and mileage is displayed. Battery gas and rpm are working. When i back off from start to run and just let it idle, the gauges shut off, the blinker lights go solid on and the mileage changes to no bus. I have checked my grounds, fuses, electrical connections and cant think of what to check next.

TIA for looking at this.

You may have pinched a wire putting everything back together. pull out the gauge cluster and radio. follow the wiring harnesses, grab each wire and follow them from end to end. follow the wires from the steering column into the dash.
