If you put an empty beer can on your head, will she go to the fridge and get you a new beer?

That's how I knew...

well i'm not much older at 22. I've been with my girl for 4 years and I just got married on monday. Took me that long to make sure. I agree, only time will tell.

But look on the bright side, feisty ones are more fun. They never let your life get boring. :)

But you aren't supposed to say it. Just let her go on her way thinking everything is wonderful and all 'ment to be' and BS. Neither break her down nor build her up, both lead to trouble. Just become as non-commental and non-commiting as possible. The best answer for what happened (at least, as I see it) was to say the 'I love you too' and then change the topic, and change it to something she likes (shoes, clothes, celebrity gossip, or whatever the hell she's into). The point is, say as little as you can and then change the damn topic before she goes fishing for more!

At least, that's how I'd have handled it.

That's a damn good plan!

But....does she get you the new drink? How 'bout the other stuff?

In my house, I do the cooking, she does the cleaning. Works great!!!

All I suggest is live together FIRST! Make sure everything is cool when you live together. I know a few people who had awesome relationships...until they lived under the same roof!

Once you're married you can let the beer gut drop and not worry about things. She's stuck with you then. Unless of course, you're financially better off than she is. In which case she might take all your money.

I think I said I was cynical in my introduction post. ;)

Ahh, women.

I can see why she flipped out, just because I've been with enough girls to know that's a natural reaction for them. Personally though, I don't see a problem with it. You're young, she's young, you haven't even lived 1/4 of your lives yet. I haven't told anybody we were "meant for each other" or that we would "be together forever" since I was in high school, cuz no matter what you feel for that person, you're just not sure. Maybe when I'm 50 and I've passed the point of no return (because face it, at that point, your hair's not gonna grow back, your gut's not gonna get smaller, you're just... done) I might change my mind. Because then I'll want to hold on to the last woman stupid enough to agree to have sex with me, before that well runs completely dry. :D

My longest relationship lasted over 4 years, and then one day it just ended. No hard feelings, no infidelity, just... "Well, it's been fun. Later!" If you want to feed her the lines just to make her happy, you could do that, but I prefer honesty in ALL facets of the relationship. If my girlfriend asks me if I think we'll be together forever, I just say something like "Well... I mean I like you NOW. As long as you don't get fat, go crazy, or bang some other dude... I mean, yeah. Anything's possible."

PS - Amy and all the other girls here... please don't hurt me. :)

Honestly,Your reasponse to what she said actully made me laugh out loud...on a serious note, tell her everything that she wants to hear and you will stay out of the Dog house,I've learned to never say anything and just let her talk and agree and smile.

When it comes to stuff like this, less is more. You would've been golden with a simple "I Love You Too". Chicks don't like to think about the possibility of a relationship failing especially when they think that everything is perfect and you're their prince charming.

Just be sensitive to what she says and expects from you, and you won't have any issues.

... Oh, yea, and your "time will tell thing" definately made me burst out laughing too, I knew that moment that you were in the dog house
