They say big things come from humble beginnings or something of the sort.
Anyway, here is my 2001 Jeep xj that was brought back from the dead. Still working on It. Long way to go.

Girlfriend made a little meep out of a mtchbox Cherokee and some Velcro.

So far I have replaced a radiator with a 3 core aluminum one. That leaked super bad. After fighting with the manufacturer for a week I finally got them to send me a new one. Which works fine now. I made sure to inspect it thoroughly.

I painted the headliner now the interior is much more inviting. The overhead light fixture needed love so I bolted it on there. Going to upgrade to lock nuts so it doesn't loosen up after a week.

I did an add-a-leaf to the rear which fixed my sagging leaf springs. I am thinking about upgrading my shackles to give me an extra inch of lift. I have coil spacers ready for install it's just a matter of getting new sway bar links because the old ones are going to break off when I try and loosen the nut that holds them on.

Installed an aftermarket stereo and sub. As an audiofile, the sub adds the bass I need even though I have to turn it way down to keep my entire car from shaking.

Recently fixed a missfire issue with a new coil rail.

Planning to add some insulation to the fuel lines to prevent the infamous boiling fuel in the fuel lines, rail, and injectors.

Also plan on buying old man emus for the new shocks. (Or Bilsteins which ever is cheapest at the time)

My bumpers will be homemade and winchless. This is an everyday driver.

Well that is where I'm at so far. When I do something new it will be posted her. Feel free to leave any comments or concerns.

so far these are all the mods I would like to do to the jeep That haven't happened yet:

lift:
https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/jeep/cherokee-xj/84-01-jeep-cherokee-xj-4wd-bilstein-5100-2-3-front-2-3-rear-lift-shocks/
https://www.quadratec.com/products/16009_130.htm
https://www.quadratec.com/products/16190_2000_07.htm
https://www.amazon.com/Rough-Country-Adjustable-0-6-5-inch-Cherokee/dp/B00B2AEQNO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1531115203&sr=8-4&keywords=jeep+xj+adjustable+control+arms&dpID=41T1XgysqcL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
I have the pucks, just need to put them on. I chose bilsteins because they worked great on my old LJ. decided to not go for a full new leaf spring because cost and for some reason i really like the look of fresh, shiny new shackles.

Bumper:

if the image doesnt work, here is a link:
https://www.affordableoffroad.com/shop/affordable-front-rear-bumper-set-jeep-cherokee-xj-84-01/
I will rip off AO's design and weld up my own winch plate if I ever buy a winch. I'm not the best welder (which is why the rear will be first. I will probably find some heftier tubing out of fear of deer messing up my pretty chipped paint.

Grille: Speaking of paint I will be painting my grille to look like old glory(that's a US flag for you unpatriotic or foreign) I KID! :D but no.. the grille will be more patriotic than George Washington eating deep-fried buffalo.

http://i.imgur.com/HmGcKJ3.jpg raw link in case of img failure

My roof will look sorta like this, except a jolly roger against a black flag.

Wheels-n-Tires:
https://www.amazon.com/Cooper-Discoverer-All-Terrain-Radial-Tire-31X10-50R15/dp/B07D12H172/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1531116752&sr=1-1&keywords=Cooper+Discoverer+A/T3+31X10.50R15&dpID=51XdHFmLifL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
these tires were good on my LJ. they did well on and offroad. I don't like hitting big mud holes and enjoy a quieter ride and these did the trick. I'll be sure to grab some of these when my 29's wear out. I will also paint my rims black. the question is: Matte or Gloss?

Cooling Upgrades:
https://www.quadratec.com/products/71212_100.htm
https://www.quadratec.com/products/13106_680X_PG.htm
With these, my jeep will stay so cool, it'll wear aviators all the time, even at night, and indoors.

Windows and doors:
I like full doors. there.
I will have a professional shop tint my wndows down to 45% no bubbly windows for me.

CB & other audio:
https://www.rightchannelradios.com/collections/mobile-cb-radios/products/cobra-29-wx-nw-st-classic-cb-radio
https://www.rightchannelradios.com/collections/magnet-mount-cb-antennas/products/wilson-little-wil-cb-antenna-36
C'mon, who doesnt think CB is cool?

Exhuast:
https://www.quadratec.com/products/77608_801_07.htm
mines falling down, might as well get new.

Injectors:
https://www.amazon.com/Injectors-Cherokee-4-Hole-Upgrade-Injector/dp/B077GM5FTS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1531118592&sr=8-1&keywords=2001+jeep+xj+injectors&dpID=51jxS%2B7EJyL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
this will come sooner rather than later.

Finally! Lights!:

https://www.quadratec.com/p/rigid-industries/sr-q-pro-hybrid-led-flush-mount-backup-light-kit-white-diffused-60-degree-pattern

Misc:
Some chasis saver and lizardskin to protect the underbody and tub. some noise reduction mat as well.

I thought I heard somewhere that upgrading to four hole injectors solves some of the heat soak issues. You might try that upgrade first. If you do let us know if it does.

Injectors are my next purchase. I'm scratching the bumper idea and going to buy the package deal from affordableoff-road.com it will be cheaper. Can't find steel at an affordable price in my neck of the woods.

False. It does not solve that problem.

Thanks, I wondered if that was true.
Im upgrading injectoes to fix a stutter and rough idle. I also have came across a knocking right when i turn on the jeep, it goes away when i travel down the road. I think it might be a valve that was caused by my oil, mobil1 high mileage. It happened in my tj when i switched oils so im not too worried. Anyone dig up something on stutter and rough idle? Darn thing got me on a wild goose chase.

I got these power outlets off Amazon cheap awhile back. Made my own panel to put them in. Sort of covers all the bases

10-4 good buddy. I went looking through my garage and found an outlet that will work. Maybe it'll power my fridge one day.

I took it on a roadie and it lived! Im so proud of this jeep and how reliable, even with the stutter, it was. It was hot, muggy and my first trip with no parental guidance. I definitely need to go more but all in all it was too short. I wish i could have stayed more than 2 nights.
Some things to get better at (for those new campers):
1. Get better gear. whether its a fan for your tent, or a pocket billows, this is an ongoing process and should be constantly worked on. A rooftop tent is my end goal but I'm poor atm.
2. Better organization. The back of the jeep was plenty space for the tent, canopy, grille, cooler, clothes, blankets etc. But it could have been better organized for ease of use. I should male a drawer and pocket system for all this stuff.
3. More wheeling! I love a good romp through the woods and we found one gravel road (chicken house run) but i feel that it wasnt enough. Watoga has no 4x4 trails and the ones that are there are behind someone's house. Next time im going to a spot with more trails.

4. Air conditioning. Thats all.

5. Better knowledge of my surroundings. I am already well versed in bushcraft and have been on several backpacking trips to prove it, but what i lack is the knowledge of acceptable use in a front country place like i was in. I knew which trees were useful but i couldnt use them. Im the wilderness, nobody cares if you use your surroundings. Not in a campground. I honestly felt like a fish out of water there. Something I'll have to learn for my career.

All in all a good trip and would definitely recommend watoga, tubing, and the ability to bring alcohol makes that park an awesome place to steal away for a weekend.

bought injectors :boogie: supposed to be here tomorrow. I am also going to pick up exhaust wrap on the way home to cure my heat soak. I will hopefully be able to do the install sunday, my only day off.

If you're wondering which ones:

You probably don't want to spend this much or wait because it appears to be out of stock every where at the moment but have you seen this?

You might want to eradicate that cancer you have on the back bumper before it spreads. I probably should not talk I have some myself.

Thanks, will do. I have seen the heat shield before. I think it is a great idea, but since that is normally 50 bucks, and exhaust wrap is 15ish. I'm leaning on the exhaust wrap idea. Gonna post about it including my results in a week or so, that will leave me with time to test if it works. If not, I'll purchase the heat shield kit. In the meantime, i'm actually getting ready to fix some of the cancer today.
