Can anybody tell me what my tag numbers meen?
My rear end tag top # 53005045 my bottom # 5-6103227 I know it is to tell you what your grear ratio build date is but I cant figure this one out.:brickwall:

I couldn't tell ya off hand. But the next time you're servicing the axles, make sure it's up in the air and in N. The gear manufacturer stamps all the gear info onto the outside of the ring gear, and the face of the pinion gear. Might take some searching but it's there.

here's what I found...

8953005045 '86-89 Cherokee, Wagoneer & Comanche 30 3.55 NL w/o disconnect axle

Basically you have a D30 3.55 gears and is a non disconnect axle without limited slip.

Thanks guys!! And nice looken XJ okcjeeper Looks like my 89 limited. Thats is being transformed. The tag was of my 89 limited 4.0 Auto 242T/c with what I am told i have 3.55 gears now with me running 31X13.50X15 what would be a good gas saver gear ratio to run for my overdrive/towing???
