Just 2 things, f.y.i..

If you CANT get the NSS off the transmission squirt it with some good penetrating oil.
And forget the wd40, i used Aerokroil. Some reallllly nasty stuff they use in the oilfields when they just HAVE to break bolts loose.

Second, make sure you have a couple hundred bucks in case it looks like this

when it is dissasembled.................

i cant get mine off the shaft, so i sprayed it down in penetrating oil. i dont think mine is as bad as yours, cause mine still shifts, and i have overdrive, i just dont have backup lights.

Mine shifted o.k. also.

But my reverse lights only worked intermitently.

Maybe i should have left well enough alone, but i figured it would only get worse with time.

So you are saying that my reverse lights more than likely don't work either because of the nss? That is good to know. I have been useing a bypass to get my jeep started when the the nss fails, and my reverse lights have not worked in over a year.
