Hey all. The ac compressor on my 2000 4.0l Jeep Cherokee decided to die on me recently. I do not have the money to replace the compressor as of yet and was wondering if there was a way to route the belt bypassing the compressor completely without having to buy a bypass pulley.

You would probably have to get pretty creative and buy a smaller belt for sure.

Just unplug the compressor so it doesn't kick on and it will just free wheel because the clutch is not engaged. My dad did that on his bronco and was fine.

Many Thanks for that info lifted1994xj! Just made my day and it is working fine. Although I still have to replace the ac compressor come spring...but for now we're golden.

I removed my a.c. compressor and relocated my alternator. Here is the belt I used. It may fit
