Used to play hoops and nothing but hoops. Now i'm afraid to go play again in fear my ankles/knees/hips will crumble.

I'm not old but my body is in the same shape as a 70 year old. When i was in college, i lifted VERY hard. I mean i was going insane in the gym and put on 42 lbs in 3 months, and that was with 8% body fat. Kept this up for a couple years and i guess wore out all my joints. I have popping knees, cartilage damage in wrist, bad back, sore shoulder, etc.

When they say "no pain, no gain"...they are BULLSH$$ING.

I feel ya I use to run track and pretty much killed my knees and ankles...but I was fast for my time..:) Messed my back and shoulders up when I use to be heavily into martial arts and full contact fighting..
