i used to run my old 87 like that.....next time you are under the hood,find the fan harness(located between the rad filler kneck and the air box),its a two wire plug.All u have to do is cut the plug off,and wire a toggle switch in...run it into the cab,and your good to go.
The fan draws enough current to cook most switches. You need to run a relay. Use the switch to operate the relay. Makes it a little harder to wire, but worth it. Also, you can install a Painless Wiring kit. It has a sensor that turns the fan on at 200 degrees and off at 190. I have it and it works flawlessly. Another thing to remember is that if you have AC, you will already have a relay somewhere and just run your wire to the coil on the relay.
