ok..so i got this cherokee for my 17 birthday..:) it was a gift from my dad after i wreck my first car mazda mx6...then i had a scooby "subaru impreza" and i got tired of car payments.so my dad kept the subaru and trade for a tribeca and i got a JEEP....

its a 1999 jeep cherokee 4x4 4.0 8.25 in the back d30 in the front hp...

this is how it started...it was stock....which i do not have a picture...sucks...but you know how they look...then it jump to this...

4.5 and 30s

then i decided to jump to 4.5 and 33s...with out trimming.

didnt work to good...so i trim the fenders and at the same time i got 1.5 spacers inthe front and 1.5 teraflex shackles in the back...

[IMG

then i sold my 33s and i got used 35s..

the main plan of this xj was to get an 8.8 or a rear 44 of an xj...and regear, arb lockers and be done with it...but..you know its hard to stick to a plan...

a long the way i got a snorkel, rhino line the interior, throthle body spacer, k&n intake...and thats it...

last time i went wheeling i broke my front housing...

here..:

and the lower control mount...

so i over did it...

it was almost 400$ to get new housing...so i said... 44 time!...and since then..it has been a half *** jeep..:(...

now this build is only depending on a few things...

1)money
2)me finding a better job
3)finding a D.D so i can tear this apart and upgrade
4)if my dad sponsor me some money :)...

i dont have a due date...but it should take about 6 months :)..or a year :(..or a week if i hit the jackpot...

plans

d44 hp in the front with 30 spline and crhomoly
rear 9 inch with truehi9 31 spline..
5.13s gears
arb lockers front rear
4.1 t case
tnt long arms
tnt truss in the front
frame stiffners
front jeep speed reinforcement brackets for the front
rustys front stinger with winch mount
rear tire carrier
custom rock sliders
tube fenders
inner cage
4 bucket seats
5 point harnes
fuel cell
37x13.50x15 rockers
poison spider beadlocks
i lost my paper where all the list....but this is pretty much it....

so pictures to come..be patience...:)

Why a truehi9 in the rear, with 31 spline shafts? They're a great product, I've thought about them a bit, but, have you priced them out? And with 31 spline shafts? You could run a currie-HP9 or whatever they call that 8.8" abomination and count on shaft failure before anything else. I guess you can get stock 31 spline shafts, but if you're going to buy chromos, go 35 spline if your housing will accept it. And if not, or better yet, solid sells some weld on spindles to make a Full Float rear housing... Or they can be stolen from D70 rears or 14Bs.

And how do you plan to upgrade the D44 front to 33 spline? Stock inners are 30 spline, and yes, they can be upgraded... A guy can run 35 spline inner shafts if he doesn't mind a spool. However, stock D44 outers are either 19 or 26 spline, and can only reasonably be upgraded to 30 spline (the spindles must be bored out to 1.5" ID, you can buy hubs or drive flanges from warn with the flanges being the mucho stronger choice). The only way to squeeze more splines out of the outer assembly that I would consider is using D60 outer assemblies. Then a guy could theoretically run 35 spline outers if he so choose (IMHO, 35 splines with a D44 is asking for a ring gear or pinion failure, but it does seem to work for some people). Or, a guy can run dodge style unitized outers as they're 33 spline (or so I seem to recall, with some older stuff like my 94 being 31 spline), but the dodge outers are junk.

Anyways, seems like you've got some decent plans for the rig. Think 'er all out real good and ask lots of questions before you drop the hard-found coin on anything.

just notice i put 33s spline...i ment 30 spline...which they already are... meaning the real upgrade there will be crhomoly shafts

on the third member im still thinking...is a lot of damn money....why 31 spline? because i can run the stock shafts...but i will probally look into a 35 spline third member not hi9...and run that...and skid plate the crap out of the low pinion...

like you said...i want to keep the outer as the weak link...not the ring and pinion...and...if i was to cut the outers and weld d60 ones...i will just go 609 axles front and back...

now this are the plans....does it mean everything will be like this? idk..a lot of things could change from now...to...2 hours....to..who knows when...

yes i will be asking ALOT...and i can see you know a lot..and a lot more than me....so have that inbox empty because i will be asking a lot...specially to you...

I think poison spyder customs sells a premade pinion guard/diff skid for 9" applications, or maybe it's currie. Which-ever, I seem to recall it was cheap enough that I'd probably buy it rather than making it.

I know the feeling of having your plans change. I tend to write out what I 'plan' only to look at the 'plan' a month later and laugh at it.

well...like i said somewhere else in the forum.....things arent going bad...but they arent going awesome...money wise.....

and there will be a little detour for some time....

my 44 is under the xj...because...i cracked the old 30 after jumping the damn thing......so i went and put the 44 under it to be able to drive it from place to place...but i havent have the time to finish the rear axle..or even the front one....and i dont think i will be able to do that by now...

so

im looking for a D30 of an xj.....dropping it back to 4.5 inches of lift....putting the sway bars again....:D..and going 33s....perfect for DD and i will be able to do wheeling ...

axles will be in the garage..and they will be the last thing to go under it..i mean i can do everything else but the axles....because you cant just put the gears on the rear axle with out getting the shafts...and blah blah...cant afford it now....
