96 XJ. One of my top 2 e-fan support screws is missing from where it mounts on that top cross support. There's a small black C shaped piece of metal that's stamped to accept the screw. C piece goes onto the edge of the cross support and then the screw goes through the hole.

Anyone know how I can identify this part number where I can order it, of what this piece is called so I can just look for a universal one? I know I could just shove a screw through it but I'd rather get the right piece.

The c shaped piece is called a clip-on or floating nut retainer. They can be found all over the internet. I don't think you'll find them at the local hardware store, but the autoparts stores may have them in small packs. Any size will work. I think I just used a selftapper through it after mine were corroded pretty bad.

Thanks for the info friend. Turns out mine aren't just stamped like I had thought before, but they're the turret kind where they have a number of turns of thread that accept the screw. Found lots of these at Oreiley's by Dorman.

Only question I have now is...the other anchors I have like this that still have their screw in place take an 8mm socket to remove. Does this mean this is an M8 machine screw?

Doesn't have to be. I changed a bunch out as I wanted. Use what works for you. Hex head is easy to remove in case of corrosion
